Smt. Sukhwinder Kaur –A Progressive Farm Woman & Entrepreneur

Smt. Sukhwinder Kaur of village Mehma Sewai,Distt. Bathinda belongs to a small farming family having one and half acre of land. Her husband hires 4-5 acres of land on custom hiring basis and used to grow and sell organic vegetables. In June 2016, She came to KVK alongwith her husband and registered her name for the training on processing of fruits and vegetables,after being motivated by the Home Science expert. She processed and sold summer season vegetables and fruits viz. Pumpkin chutney, green chilli pickle, mango pickle& chutney and earned considerable profit from these products.

Again she attended one week (16-01-17 to 24-01-17) vocational training at KVK,Bathinda under ARYA Project on value addition of fruits,vegetables and milk. After acquiring this training she started preparing different value added products viz.sarson ka saaag and chatti ki lassi(water milk), pickles, chutneys, candy, squashes, murabbas and other milk products like paneer, carrot burfi, etc.

She also started selling their products at Kisan hut Model town, Bathinda. She is very much satisfied from the additional income of Rs. 15,000 per month. She became a light house for the other small farming families.
