Krishi Vigyan Kendras are the district level farm science institute for speedy transfer of technology to the farmer’s fields. The Krishi Vigyan Kendra’s aim to reduce the time lag between generation of technology at the research institutions/university & its transfer to the farmer’s fields for increasing productivity and income from the agriculture and allied sectors on a sustained basis.
Krishi Vigyan Kendras are working as full-fledged institutions of transfer of technology in their respective areas. Krishi Vigyan Kendra’s are imparting vocational training to update the extension personnel with emerging advances in Agricultural Research, Front line demonstrations for transfer of technology. On farm trials for evaluation and refinement of technology are also under taken by KVK’s with collaborative participation of the farmers, scientists & subject matter specialist and extension workers. In KVK’s the syllabus is tailored according to the needs of the area and the theme of “ Learning by doing” is followed while imparting the trainings.
The Krishi Vigyan Kendra’s initially started with the mandate of conducting trainings for the farmers,farmwomen and rural youth have now come a long way to take up additional mandates. The mandates of KVK have been widened to encompass on farm trials ,technology assessment
